Its a marathon not a sprint
I find my self chanting this mantra often. The last few days have been rough for mom and dad. The combination of being so physically tired and trying to process the information about Jemma's brain bleed we have been left feeling raw and weary.
Jemma proves yet again she is an absolute champ ! We are finding solace in her ability to flourish despite her circumstances. Yesterday we were greeted by a nice surprise CPT SassyPants blue lights were gone!!!! She will have 48 hours with out her lights to see what her body does. In the mean time our kangaroo snuggles can last for as long as its mutually beneficial for all parties.
Daily we get reports from the nurses that Jemma had a massive blow out. It hilarious until your the one trying to change her. The other day Jakin became baptized as a father, Jemma pooped on him....a lot.... He handled it well thank goodness for his 40 million nieces and nephews .
Jemma is taking to her feeds beautifully. Last night my breast milk was fortified with a nutritional supplement that will help chunky her up. She is still getting fed from a tube but she didn't spit her new cocktail . She also like to suck during feedings we are encoured to work with her by giving her a paifer to suck on during her feed times.
Capt Sassypant is 32 weeks and 2 days so very possibly this week or the next her Cpap mask might come off and we can try feeding by mouth. Please keep praying ideally we would like her to come home with any type of feeding assistance.
Because Jemma is doing so well there really isn't much to report . It feels like for this very moment we have ridden out the roughest part of the storm. There are still many battles to be fight and mountains to climb But God is good and he gave us a daughter whos is tough as nails. Any thing can happen at any moment and that's not something we take for granted but this moment right now we are at peace and it looks as though Jemma is well on her road to come home, a fat healthy albeit small baby !
